RAPID HIV Test Kit

This is a test referred to as an “HIV test”, or an “AIDS test” but in fact it is a test for HIV antibodies. Antibodies form in response to an HIV infection, but they don’t appear for three weeks to three months. This is called the ”window period”, this means that a person may be HIV positive, but it may not show up on the test until after the window period because the antibodies have not yet formed. A clearer way to think about the window period in relation to your test result is to keep in mind that your HIV test result accounts for your HIV status three months beforehand.
Many people value the ability to get their HIV test anonymously; the anonymous test ensures that they will not be identified if they test positive. We appreciate that sometimes people are nervous about getting tested, even though they want to know their status. Anonymous testing allows a person to get an HIV test with fewer barriers so that people can take good care of themselves.
You can get tested as soon as three weeks after a significant potential exposure with HIV, followed by returning after the 12 week window period for a second test.
